Haven't seen that specific tile pattern in any other subway station that I can remember, but there's lots of stations in NYC. I know under the 23rd street station, where the Masons meet above, they have the square and compass embedded into the tile design.
There's likely tunnels and rooms behind that wall, as there were many service doors along it - most labeled for Subway maintenance.
Went into the lobby, no waterfall or sound of water - but the wavy ceiling was there.

ok guys. been doing some research on the bldg and i have found a yuge discrepancy!!
there is a 15’x15’ size hole missing from the building map vs the lot map!
researching i realized that old lot 25 was somehow included in the dimensions of lot 34…
lot 25 was attached to lot 50 in dec 15 1953 (part of the library maybe?) but then it was seperated from the lot jun4 1954. there is no combining lot 25 to lot 26 before the lots were combind for the tishman building nov 1 1954 (first image)
there is no doubt that lot 25 is included in lot 34- the offset is 15 feet.
ok. so the depth of the lots on each side are roughly 100 feet (above link)

so i looked at the map on acris and measured that discrepancy.
the 2 below ground levels are roughly 100 feet inward from 52nd street

the floor plan is missing a 15’x 15’ square! measurement from 52nd is roughly 85 feet towards the middle. there are NO doors to go outside there.
no records of lot 25 being included…
and missing square footage….
perhaps we have a secret tunnel entrance…?

i think the access point from 666 is the sub cellar
but it also looks like 21club and the paley center could access it if they have back doors… maybe even the library…?
