Summary of False Flag Operations and False Flag Terrorism
Definition of False Flag
"False flag terrorism" occurs when elements within a government stage a secret operation whereby government forces pretend to be a targeted enemy while attacking their own forces or people. The attack is then falsely blamed on the enemy in order to justify going to war against that enemy. Or as
Wikipedia defines it:
False flag operations are
covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to deceive the public in such a way that the operations appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one's own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time; for example, during Italy's
strategy of tension.
The term comes from the old days of wooden ships, when one ship would hang the flag of its enemy before attacking another ship in its own navy. Because the enemy's flag was hung instead of the flag of the real country of the attacking ship, it was called a "false flag" attack.

Historical False Flag Attacks
There are many examples of false flag attacks throughout history. For example, it is widely known that the Nazis,
in Operation Himmler, faked attacks on their own people and resources which they blamed on the Poles, to justify the invasion of Poland.
And it has now been persuasively argued — as shown, for example, in this History Channel video — that Nazis set fire to their own parliament, the Reichstag, and blamed that fire on others. The Reichstag fire was the watershed event which justified Hitler's seizure of power and suspension of liberties.
And in the early 1950s, agents of an Israeli terrorist cell operating in Egypt
planted bombs in several buildings, including U.S. diplomatic facilities, then left behind "evidence" implicating the Arabs as the culprits (one of the bombs detonated prematurely, allowing the Egyptians to identify the bombers). Israel's Defense Minister was brought down by the scandal, along with the entire Israeli government.

The Russian KGB apparently conducted a wave of bombings in Russia in order to justify war against Chechnya and put Vladimir Putin into power (see also
this essay and
this report). And the Turkish government has been caught
bombing its own and blaming it on a rebel group to justify a crackdown on that group. Muslim governments also play this game. For example, the well-respected former Indonesian president claimed that their government
had a role in the Bali bombings.
This sounds nuts, right? You've never heard of this "false flag terrorism," where a government attacks its own people then blames others in order to justify its goals, right? And you are skeptical of the statements discussed above? Please take a look at these historical quotes:
"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." - U.S. President
James Madison"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." -

What about the U.S.?
Is it logical to assume that, even if other countries have carried out false flag operations (especially horrible regimes such as, say, the Nazis or Stalin), the U.S. has never done so? Well, as documented by the
New York Times,
Iranians working for the C.I.A. in the 1950's posed as Communists and staged bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its democratically-elected president (see also
this essay).
And, as confirmed by a former Italian Prime Minister, an Italian judge, and the
former head of Italian counterintelligence, NATO
carried out terror bombings in Italy with the help of the Pentagon and CIA and blamed communists in order to rally people's support for their governments in Europe in their fight against communism. As
one participant in this formerly-secret program stated: "You had to attack civilians, people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple. They were supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security."
Moreover,
declassified U.S. Government documents show that in the 1960s, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff signed off on a plan code-named Operation Northwoods to blow up American airplanes (using an elaborate plan involving the switching of airplanes), and also to commit terrorist acts on American soil, and then to blame it on the Cubans in order to justify an invasion of Cuba. The operation was not carried out only because the Kennedy administration refused to implement these Pentagon plans.

One quote from the the declassified Northwoods documents states: "A 'Remember the Maine' incident could be arranged: We could blow up a US ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba. Casualty lists in US newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation."
What about Al-Qaeda?
You might think Al-Qaeda is different. It is very powerful, organized, and out to get us, right?
Consider this Los Angeles Times article, reviewing a BBC documentary entitled The Power of Nightmares, which shows that the threat from Al Qaeda has been vastly overblown (and see
this article on who is behind the hype). And former
National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski testified to the Senate that the war on terror is "a mythical historical narrative."
And did you know that the FBI had
penetrated the cell which carried out the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, but had – at the last minute – cancelled the plan to have its FBI infiltrator substitute fake powder for real explosives, against the infiltrator's strong wishes? See also

Have you heard that the anthrax attacks – which were sent along with notes purportedly written by Islamic terrorists – used a weaponized anthrax strain from the
top U.S. bioweapons facility? Indeed,
top bioweapons experts have stated that the anthrax attack may have been a CIA test "gone wrong." For more on this, see

It is also interesting that the only Congress members mailed anthrax letters
were key Democrats, and that the attacks occurred one week before passage of the freedom-curtailing PATRIOT Act, which seems to have scared them and the rest of Congress into passing that act without even reading it. And though it may be a coincidence, White House staff
began taking the anti-anthrax medicine before the Anthrax attacks occurred.
Even General William Odom,
former director of the National Security Agency, said "By any measure the US has long used terrorism. In ‘78-79 the Senate was trying to pass a law against international terrorism, yet in every version they produced, the lawyers said the US would be in violation" (the audio is

Why Does This Matter?

Former prominent Republican U.S. Congressman and CIA official Bob Barr stated that the U.S. is close to becoming a totalitarian society and that elements in government are using fear to try to bring this about.
The former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration,
Paul Craig Roberts, who is called the "Father of Reaganomics" and is a former editor and columnist for the
Wall Street Journal,
BusinessWeek, and Scripps Howard News Service,
has said:
"Ask yourself: Would a government that has lied us into two wars and is working to lie us into an attack on Iran shrink from staging 'terrorist' attacks in order to remove opposition to its agenda?"
Retired 27-year CIA analyst Ray McGovern, who prepared and presented Presidential Daily Briefs and served as a high-level analyst for several presidents, stated that if there was
another major attack in the U.S., it would lead to martial law. He went on to say:
"We have to be careful, if somebody does this kind of provocation – big violent explosions of some kind – we have to not take the word of the masters there in Washington that this was some terrorist event because it could well be a provocation allowing them, or seemingly to allow them to get what they want."
The former CIA analyst would not put it past the government to "play fast and loose" with terror alerts and warnings and even terrorist events in order to rally people behind the flag.
The abundance of reliable information in this essay suggests that not only has the U.S. in the past conducted false flag operations, but there is a possibility that 9/11 involved some element of this deceit, and a future false flag operation cannot be ruled out. Are you ready to dive deeper? For those of you who were not aware of some of the hidden manipulations going on in our world before starting this course, this lesson may be challenging. Though some of the information may be disturbing, many believe it is essential to at least be aware of these things in order to make a real difference in our world.
False Flag Operations
This lesson is titled "The Power Elite, False Flag Terrorism, and 9/11." For those unfamiliar with the term false flag terrorism, here is a definition from Wikipedia:
"False flag operations are
covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to deceive the public in such a way that the operations appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one's own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time; for example, during Italy's
strategy of tension."
In other words, when a government or other entity secretly pretends to be it's own enemy and launches an attack against itself, this is called a false flag operation. This is done to fool unsuspecting people into believing that there is a greater threat than actually exists, and to manipulate the public into supporting war agendas. The Power Elite
The power elite consists of those with tremendous amounts of both wealth and power in our world. Like any group, the power elite has both individuals and factions which are inclined to promote their own self-serving interests, and those who are more interested in serving the greater good.
Many scholars who have spent considerable time studying this group have found that there are factions within this elite group which at times fight against each other, while at other times they work together for common goals. Many (but certainly not all) of these elite believe that because of their intelligence and wealth, they deserve to have inordinate amounts of power and influence on global politics.

Members of the power elite generally do all they can to keep their existence and their activities secret, knowing that if people find out about them and their immense power, they will demand change. If you find yourself having negative thoughts about these people, remember that every member of the power elite and these secret societies was once an small child wanting only to love and be loved.
In exploring this provocative issue, it is vitally important that we don't fall into "us vs. them" thinking which only leads to more polarization and conflict. This information is provided knowing that through better understanding all that is happening, we can more effectively make a difference.
Operation Northwoods
For an important example of a false flag operation that never happened, yet that nevertheless clearly shows how global politics can be manipulated, please read about Operation Northwoods through the declassified U.S. government documents released on this operation at the link below:
The only reason these documents were released by the U.S. government is that the operation was never carried out. If Operation Northwoods had been carried out, the documents would never have been released. Those involved would have invoked "national security" to keep them secret. There are laws which allow plans actually put into operation which allegedly affect national security to remain classified indefinitely.
The important question here is who determines what falls under the category of national security, and what are their motives? Key members of the power elite are often involved in developing these false flag operations and have incredible influence over which documents are kept secret from the public.
Something to remember in dealing with false flag operations is that governments are massive bureaucracies and thus very inefficient in general and incapable of carrying out detailed secret plans. However, the military and intelligence branches of government are rigid hierarchies in which everyone knows their position. Superiors who give commands are very rarely questioned. Just the words "Yes, sir" bring up images of a "good soldier" in the military.
It is through use of the highly organized military and intelligence services that the power elite, working together with key allies in government and the media, are able to carry out major false flag operations. The Northwoods documents, for example, state "responsibility for both overt and covert military operations [will] be assigned the Joint Chiefs of Staff," showing that very few even in the military would know how the public was being deceived.
Having an inefficient, at times bumbling government bureaucracy actually makes it easier for the elite to manipulate politicians and laws. And should anyone claim that the government is carrying out a false flag operation or some kind of conspiracy, the power elite and their media baron buddies disingenuously point out how ridiculous such claims are when government is so inefficient.
Meanwhile the military and intelligence services are not only used to promote these operations, they also promulgate sophisticated disinformation to lead astray any who might investigate the secret manipulations. False flag operations give the pretext for war needed by the elite to maintain their power and rake in the huge profits and power that war brings them.

What Does It All Mean?
As this lesson is filled with some rather intense information, we invite you to stop for a minute and take a few deep, full breaths now.
Let's not forget the greater perspective in all this. What's really going on here? Consider that many people from all walks of life get caught up in greed and the desire for power. Some get so caught up in it all that they end up being involved in severe manipulation of public perception for the personal benefit of themselves and those close to them.
We definitely want to work together to stop the destructive behavior, yet does it really help matters when we shut out these people and label them as bad or evil? Doesn't this just create more conflict and polarization in our world? If we want to make a difference in our world, we can be most effective when we work to understand the motivations and inner workings of the old paradigm and learn to dance with the shadows both within ourselves and out in the world.
Exploring our own inner shadows in relation to this lesson, isn't there a part of each of us that at times has manipulated the beliefs of those around us for our own personal benefit? Aren't there ways in which we have manipulated ourselves and others mentally and/or emotionally because we really didn't know any better in that moment. What if by working on these places inside of ourselves, we can transform those around us and even the entire world we live in?
The Good News
To provide some balance to the disturbing shadow material of this lesson, we'd like to introduce you to a very unusual, inspiring group of intelligence agents who call themselves "The Library."
As mentioned earlier, intelligence agencies around the world play a decisive role in political and economic developments through their secret manipulations and a wide variety of clandestine operations. Yet as in any organization, though some agents in these intelligence agencies are acting largely out of selfish or deluded motives, others are truly doing what they believe to be best for their respective countries.
Over many decades, the self-serving intelligence agents have often succeeded in manipulating the unsuspecting public into unnecessary wars and a variety of other activities that benefit the power elite at the expense of those below them in the power hierarchy. Yet other intelligence agents who are deeply committed to serving their respective countries have witnessed these self-serving manipulations by their colleagues over the years and have done what they could to prevent them.
There is good evidence that a small, but powerful group of influential intelligence agents in service of the greater good from around the world long ago formed a group called the Library. Over many decades, members of the Library have collected and archived key information on all of the secret manipulations committed by the self-serving group and the resulting effects on global politics and economics.
When self-serving intelligence groups occasionally get out of control, Library members quietly leak certain information and key documents to the appropriate sources to prevent some really ugly things from happening.
You can learn more about this from a man calling himself simply "the German guy," who has claimed to be a member of the Library. The information this gentleman has provided about both the Library and intelligence services in general is most revealing, and even inspiring.

Almost all information given by the "German guy" has been verified, suggesting that the Library is indeed a quiet, but key player working to stop some of the disempowering manipulations of the power elite and to support the good of all humanity. And the Library is not alone. There are many other groups working quietly at many levels to do what's right and best for all of us.
Beyond Us Vs. Them
Let us do all that we can to stop destructive behavior, yet let us remember that making others bad or evil promotes more conflict and polarization in our world. By stepping out of the "us vs. them" way of thinking and trying to understand those we might oppose, we can create a new paradigm where negative behavior has clear consequences, yet the core humanity of everyone is acknowledged and honored.
We are committed to reminding all of us of what matters most in life, so that we might find ever more ways to live in respect and honor together. Take Action: Suggested Activities to Make a Difference
- Notice your thoughts and beliefs on 9/11. Are you already convinced of what happened, or do you have some openness that this may be a very complex operation for which it is best not to jump to conclusions. Some cannot even entertain the possibility that rogue elements of government may have orchestrated parts of 9/11, while others are completely convinced that Cheney and Bush orchestrated it all. The evidence suggests something in between. Explore how fluid your thinking is around this sensitive issue.
- What emotions did all of this bring up for you? Explore how these emotions are serving you. How are they not serving you? Did you fall into the blame game? Are you seeing perpetrators and thus placing yourself as the victim? If so, how can you shift this?
- When have you been so obsessed with a goal that you ceased to pay attention to how it affected others and all involved? Can you find forgiveness for what you did? Can you extend forgiveness to others who have done the same? Can you commit to noticing when you slip into that state and turning it around? Notice when the macrocosm reflects the microcosm.
- Whoever was behind 9/11, can you open to seeing that these people have hearts, too? You may find this difficult, yet consider what might happen when you open your heart to even those who would harm you. How much you are ready to help transform even the deepest shadows.
- Consider how you can most effectively take action to expose the forces behind all this and work to be the change. Educate your friends who are open to materials in this lesson.
