Cultural Marxism from the Worldview Leadership Institute

CULTURAL MARXISM

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A short definition of Cultural Marxism

The destructive criticism and undermining of all institutions of Western civilization and the traditional values underpinning it.
Cultural Marxism is the ideological driver behind Political Correctness. It is the destructive criticism and undermining of all institutions of Western civilization and the traditional values underpinning it.
Shortly after the Russian Revolution, in 1919 the Bolsheviks founded Comintern (the Communist International) to “fight by all available means … for the overthrow of the international bourgeoisie for the creation of an international Soviet republic.”
Two Marxist theorists, Antonio Gramsci of Italy and Georg Lukacs of Hungary, concluded that the Christianized West was the obstacle standing in the way of a communist new world order. Gramsci said that Christianity had corrupted the working class and the West would have to be de- Christianized by a “long march through the culture” – starting with the traditional family and completely engulfing churches, schools, media, entertainment, civic organizations, literature, science, and the presentation (and revision) of history.
In 1919, Georg Lukacs became Deputy Commissar for Culture in the short-lived Bolshevik Bela Kun regime in Hungary. He immediately set plans in motion to de-Christianize Hungary, by undermining firstly Christian sexual ethics among children, then the hated patriarchal family and the Church.  He launched sex lectures in the schools and graphically instructed youth in free love (promiscuity) and sexual intercourse while simultaneously encouraging them to deride and reject Christian moral ethics, monogamy, and parental and church authority.
In 1923 Lukacs established the Institution for Marxism in Frankfurt – later known as the Frankfurt School. Lukacs said “I saw the revolutionary destruction of society as the one and only solution.  A worldwide overturning of values cannot take place without the annihilation of the old values and the creation of new ones by the revolutionaries.”
The Frankfurt School spawned Critical Theory THE DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISM OF WESTERN CULTURE, including Christianity, Capitalism, Authority, The Family, Patriarchy, Morality, Tradition, Sexual restraint, Loyalty, Patriotism, Nationalism, Heredity,
Ethno-centrism, Conservatism.
Critical Theory repeats over and over this mantra of alleged Western evils: Racism, Sexism, Colonialism, Nationalism, Homophobia, Fascism, Xenophobia, Imperialism, and of course Religious Bigotry (only applied to Christianity).
During the Second World War, the Frankfurt School relocated to various campuses in the USA.  In 1950, Theodor Adorno of the Frankfurt School proposed the idea of the ‘authoritarian personality‘ – claiming that Christianity, capitalism, and the traditional family create a character prone to racism and fascism. Thus, anyone who upholds traditional moral values and institutions is both racist and fascist, and everyone raised in the traditions of God, family, patriotism or free markets needs psychological help.
The Frankfurt School were frustrated at the persistent lack of interest by the Western working class in revolt. Herbert Marcuse asked the question: Who could substitute for the working class as the agent of revolution?
His answer was:  marginalized groups, including black militants, feminists, homosexual militants, the asocial, the alienated and third world revolutionaries represented by the mass murderer Che Guevara.
Cultural terrorism – now called POLITICAL CORRECTNESS – was to be waged against white, Christian, capitalist, heterosexual males.
So VICTIM GROUPS were to be defended:  Blacks, women, also now Muslims as alleged victims of “racism“ and “genocide”  and also, more recently, the environment (being raped by white capitalists).   Together, these constitute THE POLITICALLY CORRECT COALITION.
Marcuse’s book ‘Eros and Civilization’ (1955) promoted Free Love and the Pleasure Principle – giving rise to the mantra of the late 1960s onward of “Make love not war” and “If it feels good, do it”. This in turn led to the drug counterculture of the 1970s – “turn on, tune in, drop out”. This is very subversive of traditional values like the work ethic and the pursuit of excellence. These Victim Groups are the basis of the Gay studies, Black studies, Women’s studies, Peace and Conflict studies, etc departments now infesting universities, along with the “Green Left”.  None of these departments encourages genuine critical thought: they peddle only a one-sided agenda of destructive pessimism about Western culture.
Cultural Marxism now riddles the institutions of Western society – universities, and especially the public media.  Its tactic of Political Correctness – linguistic fascism – now intimidates and suffocates much public discourse.  It afflicts both the major parties, not only the Left.
The advance of Cultural Marxism has been hugely helped by the spread of postmodernist nihilist ideas, including the denial of absolute truth; denial of absolute standards; cultural, religious and moral relativism; assertion that life is meaningless; “tolerant” non- judgmentalism (which means refusing to defend any standards!); and a deterministic view of life.
Cultural Marxists teach that truth and morality are relative; that the end justifies the means; that the bedrock institutions of society are merely “power relationships”; and that people’s status and fortune in life is determined by class, gender, etc and that they have no free will or ability to take moral responsibility for their own life decisions.  This promotes a “victimhood” mentality and encourages parasitic dependency.
The “social justice” agenda bought by so many people from Cultural Marxists is a smoke screen.   When hardliners and their “useful idiots” talk in the schools and elsewhere about social justice, they’re not teaching about free enterprise and capitalism and individual responsibility and all the things that made America and Britain and Australia great. They’re promoting all the things that made the Soviet Union, leftist Europe (eg France) and China so bad.

Cultural Marxism

What is Cultural Marxism?
The term is getting thrown around a lot these days.
Devin Foley | March 9, 2016

From the Marxist viewpoint, the world is composed of oppressor and oppressed. As Marx himself states in The Communist Manifesto,
“The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.”
He continues:
“Freeman and slave, patrician and plebian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary re-constitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes.”
For most of the 20th century, most Americans would have thought of Marxism as the battle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, the haves and the have-nots, capitalists and laborers.
“The bourgeoisie, wherever it has got the upper hand, has put an end to all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. It has pitilessly torn asunder the motley feudal ties that bound man to his ‘natural superiors,’ and has left remaining no other nexus between man and man than naked self-interest, than callous ‘cash payment.’
The weapons with which the bourgeoisie felled feudalism to the ground are now turned against the bourgeoisie itself.
But not only has the bourgeoisie forged the weapons that bring death to itself; it has also called into existence the men who are to wield those weapons – the modern working class – the proletarians.”
In many ways, Marx’s arguments were put forth in economic terms, which is likely how many people think of his writings. But they were in fact much deeper.
Marx wasn’t just about changing the economic order, he looked to change the entire society. His adherents, whether in Russia, Cambodia, China, North Korea, or Cuba upended the social order where they seized power – often with disastrous results with millions, or even tens of millions, of dead.
Today, while the Soviet Union has fallen and countries like China and Vietnam are allowing for much, much greater freedom, the spirit of Marxism is still alive in the West, particularly in academia.
You don’t really hear much about the bourgeoisie or the proletariat these days, but you can see the paradigm of oppressors vs. oppressed taught in classes and argued in many cultural and political clashes. Thus, the term “Cultural Marxism” has been born.
Within that worldview, though the adherents would hardly use the label themselves, one divides people into different camps. For example, the hetero-patriarchy is the oppressor while women and gays are the oppressed. Therefore, the hetero-patriarchy must be toppled. White males in America are considered the oppressors of people of color, therefore they must be toppled. Western civilization is considered the oppressor and imperialist, therefore it must be toppled. Christianity was dominant and therefore the oppressor, it must be toppled. And so goes the thinking in order to create equality and the new form of the proletarian paradise.
Individual behavior is not judged, rather the individual is judged by the group with which he or she is identified. Justice is no longer the traditional idea of “giving to each his due” which judges individual actions, but rather the toppling of the oppressor and the uplifting of the oppressed.
What is fascinating, though, is the internal conflicts that arise from an arguably simplistic, binary worldview. Once the white, Christian hetero-patriarchy is removed from the scene, you get some delicious moral quandaries. For instance, Muslims, gays, and women are oppressed by the white, Christian hetero-patriarchy. But now, which side do you take if there is no white, Christian hetero-patriarchy? In other words, do you side with Muslims when they’re executing gays, or do you stand with the gays who are attempting to topple the Muslim culture? By choosing a side you become the oppressor of one or the other oppressed group.
Hence we can watch the convulsions taking place amongst academics and other elite when it comes to the social clashes taking place in Europe due to the influx of Muslim migrants. On one hand, to do penance for the wrongs of Western civilization the Europeans must help the oppressed Muslim men, but then those men bring their own oppressive views of women and gays with them. Since the white, Christian hetero-patriarchy has already been toppled from power, those who would align with a cultural Marxist worldview are confronted with the challenge of themselves having to oppress the oppressed to defend another oppressed.
While those who might be labeled cultural Marxist rightly point out certain injustices in society, we must ask ourselves if such a binary worldview of oppressors and oppressed is what we believe and want, and if it actually offers the right solutions. Do you want to be judged for the group you’re identified with or for your individual actionsThat ultimately is the question that confronts us.

Attack on Western Civilization

Destroying Western Civilization

Destruction of Education

Destruction of Education

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ideological Wars Of America Are Really A Religious War

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within… An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
“For the traitor appears not a traitor;  he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” —Cicero (106-43 BC)
A coup has taken place in America.  Our nation is no longer controlled by “the people.” Our domestic enemies are now officially in power.  We are no longer free, we just think we are—and it has happened on our watch.
What we have failed to realize is that the Spiritual War and the Cultural War were one and the same. Because of our ignorance, the Church has engaged in the former but has ignored the latter.  We did not understand that the “war in the heavenlies” manifests in the world.  Our failure to fight for Truth has given us a nation ruled by liars.
We are a sin-laden nation because we have codified evil into the law.  Content to focus on the “saving of souls” we have neglected Jesus’ admonition to “occupy until He comes.”  As evil flourished, the Church retreated.  We have failed to recognize that the battle in the heavenlies was for control of the earth.   Jesus prayed that His Kingdom would come ON EARTH.  We have yielded the earth and submitted to evil.
Cicero was right.  Evil did not come dressed up in a red suit and carrying a pitchfork.  It has come clothed in a three-piece suit and brandishing an Ivy League degree.  While we looked for an army riding tanks and planes, we have been overrun by a force promoting education and arts.  Using guns and bullets would have been too obvious.  This war has been fought and won with words.   Language was their weapon of mass destruction.
Paul warned us of this in Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
They called it multi-culturalism and it was promoted in our schools, but the formal name is Cultural Marxism.  It gave birth to “political correctness” where thoughts became crimes.  But it did not happen by accident.  The only thing standing between Communism and world dominance was Western Civilization and its underpinnings of the Christian value system.  The only way Communism could advance would be if Christianity could be rendered powerless; or, as Jesus said, if the salt was to lose its savor.
Do you remember the cries of the hippies?  “Hey Hey, Ho Ho, Western Civ has got to go.”  It was the fight song of Communism.  The only thing preventing government from being god was the fact that the throne was already occupied.  Twentieth century American’s believed that Jesus was God.  The followers of Marx and his acolytes knew that in order to ascend to the throne they would have to overthrow God. They would advance gradually.  “Make haste slowly” was their mantra and they would be patient.
They seized our public schools and infiltrated the universities.  They captured the media, Hollywood, music, art, literature, science, history, civic organizations, and the seminaries.  They changed the world by changing the way we thought about words; tolerance, social justice, economic justice, peace, reproductive rights, sex education and safe sex, safe schools, inclusion, diversity, and sensitivity were their linguistic weapons. (Is it just me or are those words permeating all of society today?)  Do you think this happened by accident?
They would use our children to impeach God.   Applying Critical Theory they would attack all things Christian.  The Boy Scouts were bigots, the Ten Commandments were judgmental, Christmas was exclusive, and traditional marriage was discriminatory.  They brainwashed us to think that real Christians were inclusive and tolerant, that truth was relative, that all cultures were the same and that homosexuality was not a sin.
They didn’t have to kill Jesus, only His influence.  To be considered a good citizen in this new America, one only had to be tolerant of everything and believe in nothing.  In fact, to be sure that you kept your thoughts to yourself they began to call certain thoughts “crimes.”  They attacked you and even destroyed you if you dared to speak against them.  Slowly, the voice of Jesus was muted.
Into the void the god-haters slinked.  A different Christianity and a different America emerged. The God of judgment and wrath was dead and a resurrected “non-judgmental” Jesus became the new god that the new America embraced.
Democracy is the road to socialism.” said Karl Marx.
Democracy is indispensable to socialism,” said his buddy Vladimir Lenin.   “Give us the child for eight years and it will be a Bolshevik forever. Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.  A lie told often enough becomes the truth,” Lenin went on to say.
Elected officials call America a democracy.  Our school books teach the same.  Yet, we are not a democracy.  We are a Constitutional Republic, a nation of limited government chained down by a Constitution.  Kill the Constitution and the Marxists can create or ignore the law.  Change the words, change the world.
Communism can only thrive in the absence of the Gospel.  Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty.  Lady Liberty has been nearly decapitated.
But the battle is far from over.  Each one of us is going to have to make a decision on just how valuable we think liberty is.  Are you willing to sit silently as the chains of slavery are forged for your children?  Ben Franklin warned us, “Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security.”   We should heed his words.
Washington DC is rapidly becoming the enemy.  It is the terrorists with Ivy League degrees that should scare us.  The ideological wars are really a religious war. Intellectual terrorism has reaped more havoc on this land than ISIS ever will. Will the God of the Bible and the Principles that He declares rule on earth?  Or will we give in to the “tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world.” Our generation will make the decision.
Marxists are in control of America.  They are not liberals, they are not progressives, they are Communists. Their godless system has failed every place it has been tried.  America is their beachhead.  Will she be overthrown?  Will Jesus lose this Spiritual battle?  Will He yield the world once again to the Devil?  I think not.  “For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”  We are His ambassadors on the earth.  It is time to do our duty.
So here is a good place to start.  Let’s take back our language.  Stop allowing the cultural Marxists to create new labels.  We must call things what they are.
  • “Progressives” and “liberals” are Marxists.
  • “Conservatism” is counterfeit salt.
  • “Pro-choice” means pro-baby murder.
  • A “fetus” is an unborn child.
  • “Tolerance” means acceptance of sin.
  • “Gays” are sodomites.
  • “Affirmative Action” is white male discrimination.
  • An “undocumented worker” is an illegal alien.
  • The “mainstream media” are Marxists.
  • The “religious left” are humanistic socialists.
  • “Social justice” means advancement of homosexuality.
  • “Reproductive rights” is a buzz word for abortion.
  • “Sex education” is destruction of natural childhood modesty.
  • “Economic justice” is welfare.
  • “Government investment” means taxation.
  • “Sensitivity: means keep your mouth shut.
  • “Diversity” validates deviant ways to engage in sex.
  • A “Republican” is a socialist and a “Democrat” is a communist.
  • An “expert” is an academician with no practical experience.
  • “Public education” is atheistic, humanistic indoctrination.
  • “Separation of church and state” legalizes Christian discrimination.
  • Supreme Court “decisions” are opinions and are not laws.
  • “Christianity” is not a religion; it is a kingdom.
  • “Change” means Communism.
America can be saved if Americans will wake up. Domestic enemies have seized the Republic.
Stop using their words.  Words have power.  Let’s call a Marxist a Marxist.  Stand up and speak up.  Our kids are depending on us.
Otherwise, see you at the Gulag.

Cultural Marxism, Simply Explained
P. Andrew Sandlin
Posted on April 23, 2018
I am increasingly using the expression “Cultural Marxism,” and it occurred to me that I shouldn’t simply assume readers and listeners know what it means. I will try here as simply and briefly as I can to explain the basics. If you have questions, please pose them in the comments section or on Facebook.
Karl Marx, Leon Trotsky and V. I. Lenin saw the basis of all human existence as economic. This was the social and political philosophy of the old Soviet Union. It is called classical or economic Marxism. This form of Marxism is not nearly as popular today (except in North Korea). By contrast, you might have heard of Marxists like Gramsci, Lukács, Sartre, and Marcuse. They are among the first culturalMarxists. Their view of Marxism was designed to appeal to and succeed in Western societies. They knew that economic Marxism would likely not win in the West. (This is why their revision is sometimes called Western Marxism.) For one thing, they doubted that the working class would rise up in violent revolution as they did in Russia in 1917; the workers in the West were mostly satisfied with life most of the time. To win in the West, you needed a Marxism suited to the West, one that took into account Western ways of thinking. Freedom, liberty, and equality, watchwords of the West, were ideas they could commandeer to win the day. They would engage in the “long march through the institutions,” words wrongly attributed to Gramsci but rightly describing the strategy of cultural Marxism. They would reinvent the meaning of liberty, freedom, and equality to seduce Westerners and gradually capture their culture.
Human Liberation
Unlike the original Marxists, they held that humanity’s main problem isn’t economic. It’s that society’s ideas and institutions prevent us from fulfilling the Good Life. What is the Good Life? It is being able to be exactly what we want to be, to live exactly as we want to live — maximum autonomy. Every individual should be an artist, but in a very basic and profound sense. Every person should be able to paint his own life, his own meaning, his own reality. The world should be the canvas on which the person paints himself.
Unfortunately, our society conspires to restrict our autonomy. Traditional institutions like the family and church and business command our allegiance. Husbands lead families, parents direct children, clergy disciple laity, employers make demands of employees. This means they crimp our autonomy. It really means these institutions crimp our autonomy. Therefore, we live artificial, unreal, and unhappy lives to conform to these cultural institutions and expectations. We are alienated from our “true selves.” Marxists have always been very concerned about liberating the true, real self from the cultural environment suppressing it. That self might be atheistic, exhibitionist, homosexual, transgendered, bestial, or solitary; but in whatever form it takes, that self meets resistance in traditional culture. To be truly free, traditional culture must be marginalized or crushed.
An extended metaphor might help. Imagine thousands of tiny seeds, full of flourishing, fruitful potential, but they can never fulfill that potential because they’re submerged beneath hard, frozen, nearly impenetrable soil. Imagine further a sympathetic farmer who comes with a massive plow and cracks the soil and waters and fertilizes it so that the seeds can finally sprout upward.
The seeds in this metaphor are humans as we enter the world. But we’re stifled by the hard, frozen soil, which won’t allow us to unleash the potential of our real selves. That soil is our society, especially the chief cultural institutions like the family and church and business.  We should be free to sprout and grow upward and exhibit to the world all of our autonomous beauty. What we need is a plow to break up this hard soil and get it out of the way.
In our metaphor, that plow is the state. This is why cultural Marxists are statists. It’s not because they simply love power. They want state power so they can destroy traditional authority, and especially Christianity, which justifies and produces that authority. For cultural Marxists, what has been called liberty in the West, defined as absence of political coercion, becomes true liberation, the imposition of political coercion to guarantee human autonomy. Liberation becomes liberty from the institutions that our society grants the liberty to enslave us. The state must pulverize every barrier to our true selves.
Class Consciousness
How do cultural Marxists instigate this liberation? How do they get the state involved in their liberation crusade? Mainly by divvying up people into different classes and fomenting conflict, claiming that all classes must fight for equality. This is called class consciousness. In Marx’s day, the oppressors were the bourgeoisie (elites, business owners), and the oppressed were the proletariat (employees, “wage slaves”), who demanded equality. By equality, the cultural Marxists do not mean equality of condition — that is, they don’t mean everybody must play by the same rules. Rather, they believe in equality of results — the rules must be bent to make everybody get the same things. Today class consciousness is known as “identity politics,” and the battling classes are expanded — men versus women, whites and Asians versus blacks and/or Hispanics, children versus parents, millennials versus the middle aged, wealthy versus poor and “middle class,” cosmopolitans versus nationalists, and other binary categories. Cultural Marxists portray one pole of the binary (women, homosexuals, millennials, blacks) as oppressed, and demand that the state liberate them from their oppressors. Oppression here almost never means literal enslavement, abuse, or assault. Rather, it means disrespect, disapproval, or social inequality. If, for example, homosexuals are not as respected as heterosexuals, they are oppressed and deserve state-coerced liberation. This is also where the new campus speech codes come from. The newly defined oppressed (millennials) are entitled not to be offended by words from the oppressing class (older whites, teachers, men).
Liberation becomes liberty from the institutions that our society grants the liberty to enslave us.
Over time, this human liberation sees even nature itself as an oppressor. Like the Gnostics of old, creation is evil and a barrier to the good life. Male or female body parts are oppressive. “Sex-reassignment surgery” must become “gender-affirmation surgery.” A man becomes a woman who then becomes a dragon. This is an extreme case but not an inconsistent one. It’s simply the latest example of liberation, and, unless this grand social march is arrested, we should not expect the dragonization of man to be the most extreme example of liberation in the future.
Progress by Conflict
It is this class conflict that produces cultural progress. Marxists have always believed that life is everywhere filled with opposing forces, and the collision of these forces brings a higher, better reality. Today’s liberals like to be known as “progressives,” and the progress they want is human liberation ( = autonomy). That progress comes about only by conflict. So conflict is a good thing, and the elites should be fostering conflict everywhere. If you want a better society, you need to spread conflict to get there — unremitting conflict, violent if necessary. The objective of launching rallies and Twitter campaigns to challenge the “hegemony” (a favorite word of Gramsci) of men, parents, whites, straights, Asians, and Wall Street is to create a conflict that ends in the liberation of the oppressed classes and a better world, all (except the previous oppressors, who will be dispossessed and de-privileged) enjoying the Good Life.

And all led, of course, by the cultural Marxists, magically at the very top of the egalitarian heap.
