My comment on  Russell Brand's video:

Hang On…. Have We All Been CONNED By Jan 6th?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bkiEnKLUjI

In this video, Russell Brand is reading and commenting on an article from In These Times

'How Jan 6th is Being Used to Crush Decent on the Left' by Bandon Marcetic

I realize that the title of the article suggests it is has a left leaning bias. I also know that people tend to see the world through their biases and they believe information that supports these biases more easily than information that does not. And people can be deceived. Therefore when people pass on information that I consider to be deceptive I do not simply assume that these people are intentionally being deceptive. They may have been deceived by it themselves. I try to give individuals the benefit of the doubt.

Nevertheless , if we want to learn to be more objective, search out truth and avoid being deceived, it is helpful to learn the tactics that are being used to deceive people by the MainStreamMedia, MSM.

In the video Russell seems to be taking the term 'anti protest legislation' at face value. That is the part that I take exception to because I do not think that term accurately reflects the reality. In my opinion the term is misleading. That is what my comment is meant to address.

My Comment on the video:

I think there is an important media tactic being missed here. That article sounds like it is may not be trying to mislead people and the author and researchers may be a 'victims' of this tactic themselves. That tactic is conflating words and ideas such as using the word and idea of a protest and protestor while failing to differentiate between ones that are legal and ones that are illegal as in one that is peaceful and engaging only in activities that are lawful and one that is violent and engaging in criminal activities. The protests and protestors are lumped under the same umbrella when in fact the idea of each is very different. Even though both are protesting something a peaceful protestor is not the same as a rioter and a peaceful protest is not the same as a riot . This conflation of ideas and words makes the use of the term 'anti protest legislation' itself, suspect ,making it either misleading or meaningless.. The media's intentional conflation of these words and ideas, failing to differentiate between the two very different kinds of protests and protestors is a tactic used to deceive people, It is in the service of Deception and not Truth. Therefore ''anti protest legislation' comes under the same umbrella serving that same agenda. It cannot truthfully be used to show an us against them paradigm. Each piece of legislation must be analyzed separately to do that. Does it serve the 'swamp establishment'' or does it serve the people?
