Ukraine conducted its biggest and most devastating attack

Ukraine conducted its biggest and most devastating attack  deep inside Russia causing 2 billion dollars in damages across 5 different regions.  The Trump administration hnew nothing about this attack before it happened but there were 2 senators who did know about it .  They were there in Ukraine as it was happening . All of this on the very day before the  3 negotiating teams, thepresident's, Ukraine's and Russia's , were scheduled to meet trying to hammer out a peace deal .

Trump knew nothing about this attack before it happened but there were 2 senators who did and who were there in Ukraine as it was happening; .Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal.

Isn't this a violation of the Logan Act or somehow seditious or traitorous activty?

The Logan Act is a U.S. law that prohibits private citizens from engaging in diplomacy with foreign governments without the authorization of the U.S. government. It was enacted in 1799 in response to a situation where a Pennsylvania state legislator, George Logan, negotiated with France during a period of high tensions between the two countries. The Act aims to prevent unauthorized individuals from undermining the U.S. government's foreign policy.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Purpose:
The Logan Act was passed to prevent individuals from interfering in the foreign relations of the United States by engaging in unauthorized negotiations or correspondence with foreign governments.
  • Scope:
It applies to U.S. citizens who, without the authority of the U.S. government, directly or indirectly engage in correspondence or intercourse with a foreign government or its representatives with the intent to influence their actions or defeat U.S. policy.
  • Penalties:
Violations of the Logan Act can result in fines and imprisonment, according to the Department of Justice (.gov).
  • Enforcement:
While the Logan Act has been on the books for over 200 years, it has rarely been enforced, with only a few prosecutions in its history.
  • Recent Interest:
The Logan Act has seen renewed attention in recent years, particularly in relation to former President Trump's phone calls with world leaders like Putin and Netanyahu.
  • Historical Context:
The Act was named after Dr. George Logan, a Pennsylvania state legislator who traveled to France in 1798 and engaged in negotiations with the French government as a private citizen. His actions sparked concern within the Federalist Party, who viewed his actions as undermining the authority of the U.S. government.
  • Constitutional Concerns:
Some have questioned the constitutionality of the Logan Act, particularly in light of the First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech
  • THIS IS NOT A VIOLATION OF FREE SPEECH As Free Speech does not give you the right to act  as arepresentative of the US government either overtly or covertly to interact  with a foreign goverment to influence their actions in ways that defeat  official US policy., in this case to defeat the Presidents efforts at negotiang peace between Russia and Ukraine
